Tragic incident at a football match in Brazil: A policeman shot… a goalkeeper

A goalkeeper was injured by a rubber bullet fired at close range by a police officer during an altercation between players after a second-tier soccer match in Brazil, his team said in a statement. Brazil’s Sports Ministry immediately condemned this “unacceptable” episode. The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon (10/7), after a meeting between Gremio Annapolis and Centro Oeste, two teams competing in the second division championship of the state of Goia. Immediately after the final whistle, several players from both teams started arguing on the pitch and the police intervened. Images circulating on social media show a police officer pushing a Gremio Annapolis player and then shooting Gremio Annapolis goalkeeper Ramon Souza in the leg, who was about a meter away.
