Two people killed and dozens injured today in collision between two passenger trains in the village of Milavce, in western Czech Republic, announced the police.
“We can confirm that two people lost their lives,” Czech police said on Twitter in the crash.
“Dozens of injured have been reported at the scene. We are helping to evacuate the passengers “, added the police, who clarified that the accident happened shortly after 08:00 local time (09:00 Greek time).
“There are now 31 people whose lives are not in danger who are receiving medical care, seven people who are in critical condition and two who have died,” Maria Svobodova, a spokeswoman for the rescue team in the area, told iRozhlas.cz. Pilsen.
One of the trains was the Ex 351, which connects Munich with Prague – the other a regional train that connects the Czech cities of Pilsen and Domazlice.
Czech Transport Minister Karel Havlicek said “the Ex 351 violated the signal and collided with the regional train”. “The situation is serious,” he added, shortly before heading to the scene.
