Journalist Alana Rocha, reporter and presenter of radio Gazeta FM, in Riachão do Jacuípe, Bahia, reported an attack suffered on Thursday (13), while presenting a program.
In a video published on Instagram, the journalist shows that her car was stoned. The record shows that at least two large stones hit the vehicle, leaving windows and windshield destroyed.
“They tried to break this glass here. Look at this, people. Look what they did to my car, leaving the radio, I was presenting a program, look at this thing they did to my car. People, at the radio door”, narrates the journalist.
A CNN contacted the Civil Police of Bahia about the case and is waiting for a response.
transphobia
Trans woman, Alana Rocha has already been the victim of other cases of threats and transphobia. In February, the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji) published a note of repudiation of the attacks suffered by the journalist.
In 2021, the association reflected an episode of persecution against Alana. The images show a motorcyclist passing by the car she was in. According to Alana, the man would have made transphobic curses, in addition to having criticized the way she performs her work.
The station Gazeta FM released a note of repudiation of the attack.
“The broadcaster is monitoring the investigation of the case with the competent bodies and providing support to the journalist who is part of our team of presenters. Professional journalism is essential for the functioning of any democratic regime”, said the broadcaster. “Freedom of the press and expression has never been so disrespected. Violent acts like these are a clear example of this. But our mission is much greater”, concludes the note.
