Transfer WhatsApp chats from Android to iPhone, here’s how

How to transfer WhatsApp chats from Android to iPhone? After partially introducing the opposite function (transferring the chat history from iPhone to an Android phone) last fall, WhatsApp has just launched the highly anticipated possibility even for those who are changing devices in favor of an Apple phone. Migrating content from one place to another is therefore now much easier and it will no longer require the use of external and unofficial applications. Which, we remind you, always put the security of your data at risk.

This was a pressing request on which Meta’s platform worked closely with Apple. To transfer WhatsApp chats from Android to iPhone it is necessary to act in phase setup phase, therefore, when you set up the new iPhone and want to transfer data from an old Android to it. Just follow the instructions and the transfer will basically take place automatically. To see the option, however, you need to use an Android app that Cupertino has been developing for some time to move from the previous phone to iPhone, it is called Switch to iOS. It is used to transfer contents such as contacts, message history, camera photos and videos, favorites, mail accounts and calendars and time also to enable this saving possibility for WhatsApp. Not only that: it also makes a comparison between the free apps installed on the old phone and any and related counterparts available on the App Store, so as to always download and install them during the initial setup.

During the iPhone setup you need to select «Transfer data from Android»And follow the instructions on the app installed on the old phone. Once the procedure has been completed, just open WhatsApp and log in with the same phone number: all chats will then be displayed.

The feature does not work for WhatsApp Business and although still in beta it is in fact official, since it has also been the subject of an Apple launch. All the user has to do is have the version 15.5 of iOYes, released in mid-May, because the update will come on its own, with no further action to be taken.

As we mentioned, last year WhatsApp had launched the opposite functionality. Yet it is currently limited, as confirmed by the official FAQ, to Samsung devices only, using the Samsung SmartSwitch application and a USB-C to Lightning cable (or equivalent adapters).
