Transgender man brutally beaten by US police officer for making obscene gesture – ‘You’re going to kill me’

Attack from a police officer a few months ago he received one trans man in Los Angeles for raising the middle finger. The video from the time of the attack was published by the LA Times. As the victim, Emmett Brock, told the American newspaper, the incident occurred on February 10.

It all happened while the trans man was driving his car down the street when he noticed the sheriff’s deputy arguing with a woman and made the obscene gesture. A short time later, he noticed that a patrol car was following him. Frightened, the transgender man called 911 but said the operator told him there was nothing she could do since the sheriff’s deputy had not signaled him to stop.
Eventually, Brock pulled up in his car at a store in Whittier, where he was brutally beaten by policeman.

In the video that has caused a lot of reactions, Brock is seen getting out of his car and confronting the police officer Joseph Benza. “Come here. I just signaled you to stop,” the officer tells the 23-year-old. “No, you didn’t,” he replies as he exits the vehicle. Benza immediately grabs Brock and throws him to the ground.

The young teacher sounds like fearfully calling for help and shouting “you’re going to kill me”. He told the police that the officer was punching him in the head and he could feel his mouth filling with blood.

After the brief standoff, Benza arrested Brock for resisting the Authority and assaulting a police officer.

According to the transgender man’s lawyer, Mr police officer he injured his hand when he assaulted his client who is now unemployed (previously working as a teacher) and is facing criminal charges over the incident. “The video speaks for itself. Benza was banging this young kid on the head. After he was released from the detention center and went to be examined, he was diagnosed with a concussion. This guy committed a number of offenses against my client and so far he has not been punished.”

The lawyer claims his client was taunted and mocked at the police station, with officers asking him to show them his genitals to “see which prison they will put him in”. For his part, Benza claims that his actions were justified, since he “saw Brock raise his fist as if he was about to hit him” and that is why he proceeded to violently arrest him.
