Travis Scott’s show literally makes the earth shake; understand

The rapper Travis Scott, 33, will perform at the Rock in Rio festival this Friday (13) and promises to shake — literally — its audience.

Famous for his headbanging, his show has even caused problems in São Paulo and Rome, Italy, due to earthquakes caused by spectators jumping at the same time.

In 2023, during a show at the Circus Maximus monument (an ancient circus and stadium used for chariot racing, considered the largest entertainment arena in Rome, Italy) — the Roman population called the fire department hundreds of times thinking that the tremors caused by the audience jumping at the rapper’s performance were, in fact, an earthquake hitting the city.

At that moment, a reporter from CNN from Romewho also felt the tremor that night, confirmed to local authorities that the phenomenon was not caused by nature.

The tremors were caused mainly by the moment in Travis Scott’s show when he introduced a surprise guest: rapper Kanye West (currently known by his stage name Ye).

After the incident, the director of the Colosseum Archaeological Park called for an end to performances at the Circus Maximus, arguing that the events put the structure of the stadium and the Palatine Hill, Rome’s main hill, at risk.

In São Paulo, the tremors were caused during the performance of the artist Primavera Sound, in 2022. Held at the Anhembi Sambadrome, the audience’s jumping caused part of the floor of the festival’s VIP area to collapse.

This Friday (13), expectations do not include earthquakes, but a show directly from Palco Mundo in which he will present the “Circus Maximus” tour, with hits from his most recent album, “Utopia”, released in 2023.
