The company warned that the malicious application had nothing to do with Trezor or SatoshiLabs and recommended not installing it.

At the time of writing, the fake app is still available on Google Play. It has been downloaded by over a thousand people.

Twitter users note that the creators of the malware faked positive reviews, raising the app rating to 4.7 points. In the comments, some complain that the application freezes after entering the seed phrase.

“Never share your seed phrase until the Trezor device asks you to,” the developers recalled.

Also, the Trezor team has published a guide to using a hardware wallet for Android owners, which has been encouraged to be used as the only official manual.

We have a manual on using Trezor with Android. Please, check it out and consider this approach as the only official solution: https://t.co/0aGOOi1TNj
