TRF removes Bretas from cases involving “King Arthur”

The First Specialized Panel of the Federal Regional Court ordered the removal of the judge of the 7th Federal Court of Rio de Janeiro Marcelo Bretas from all cases involving businessman Arthur de Soares Menezes, known as “King Arthur”, one of the main targets of Operation Car Wash. in the river.

The decision was taken by the rapporteur of the case, judge Simone Schreiber, in a session this Wednesday within a habeas corpus filed by lawyer Nythalmar Dias Ferreira Filho against Bretas’ decision to remove him from the cases of “King Arthur”, for whom Nythalmar advocated.

The businessman hired the lawyer to defend himself from the accusation by Lava Jato from Rio de Janeiro that there was manipulation of votes for Rio to be chosen as the host of the 2016 Olympics.

Bretas, however, removed Nythalmar from the case due to the plea bargain agreement that Nythalmar made with the Attorney General’s Office, revealed by the CNN , and who pointed out possible irregularities in the conduction of Lava Jato by Bretas. To date, the allegation has not been approved.

Through his lawyer, Bretas informed: “I will not comment”.
