Triathlete Luisa Baptista is discharged after more than three months in hospital

Brazilian triathlete Luisa Baptista, 29 years old, was discharged from hospital last Monday (1st), after spending 100 days in hospital. Luisa was run over during training in São Carlos, in December last year.

According to Hospital São Luiz Itaim, where she was admitted, the young woman has an “excellent general clinical condition”. Luisa will still continue treatment at a specialized clinic for motor rehabilitation.

Remember the accident

During training on the morning of December 23, 2023, triathlete Luisa Baptista suffered an accident on Estrada Municipal Abel Terrugi (SCA-329), in the district of Santa Eudóxia, in São Carlos, in the interior of São Paulo.

The young woman suffered multiple injuries, had to be intubated and was taken to Santa Casa de São Carlos in serious condition. About 1 month later, the athlete was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at São Luiz Itaim.

The athlete was injured after being hit by a motorcycle.

Luisa Batista had made her first public statement on her brother's social media at the beginning of March to reassure the public: “Hi, everyone. I'm here with the dogs on the pet visit. I'm having fun with them and recovering well. I’ll be back soon”, said the athlete at the time.

She represented Team Brazil at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, this year. The triathlete was champion in the individual and mixed category, alongside Manoel Messias, at the Pan-American Games in Lima, in 2019.
