The oldest British motorcycle brand Triumph, created in 1902, is trying to keep up with the latest trends. The company has shared some details of its TE-1 electric motorcycle project.
The two-wheeler in development since 2019 is the fruit of Triumph’s collaboration with three other UK companies, with funding from the UK Zero Emission Vehicle Authority.
According to Triumph, the TE-1 electric motor can deliver 107 horsepower continuously. (79 kW), and at the peak – 174 hp. (128 kW). The range on one charge of the 15 kWh battery is approximately 190 km. The battery is said to be able to charge from zero to 80% in about 20 minutes, and the control system maintains a constant power level at any charge level.
Triumph plans to start serial production when batteries become cheaper. The manufacturer does not name the exact mark, limiting itself to this wording: “The motorcycle will enter the market when we can reduce the price to what we think people are willing to pay.”
The company plans to start testing the TE-1 prototype later this year.
