Truck carrying 60 tons of natural gas explodes and kills at least six people in Mongolia

An eyewitness video captured the dramatic moment when a huge gas explosion rocked Mongolia's capital, Ulan Bator, on Wednesday (24).

Footage taken from the window of an apartment building showed a truck on fire in the middle of a street. A large explosion soon followed, sending sparks into neighboring homes, quickly engulfing several nearby buildings, according to local media.

At least six people died, including three firefighters, after the explosion of a truck carrying 60 tons of liquefied natural gas, according to Mongolian emergency authorities.

In addition to the dead, at least 11 people were injured in the fire near the Dunjingarav market, the Mongolian Emergency Management Office said in a Facebook post.

More than 600 firefighters and 100 vehicles were involved in putting out the fire, which was eventually extinguished.
