Truck driver in Italy kills union member on strike outside department store

A tragic incident occurred in the city of Novara Italy, during a strike. A truck driver seduced and killed early this morning (18/06) a trade unionist during a mobilization outside a large supermarket chain.

The victim was 37 years old, an Italian of Moroccan origin. He took part in a strike outside the store and together with other colleagues he tried to block the gateway of suppliers.

According to the first testimonies and as stated by the response of APE-MPE, the perpetrator wanted to enter the inside of the department store despite the block. Volume was created with his truck dragged the trade unionist for at least 20 meters.

After a few minutes, the 37-year-old left his last breath on the asphalt, before it is even possible to provide him with first aid.

The driver of the truck injured two other employees and then tried to walk away. After a while he was arrested on a nearby highway by the carabinieri.

Italian unions prepare to protest tragic event and seek to resolve disputes through dialogue, avoiding moves that may favor an increase in tension.
