Truck with more than 2 tons of drugs is seized in Manaus

A 48-year-old man was arrested while driving a truck with more than two tons of drugs, including marijuana and cocaine, in the Armando Mendes neighborhood, East Zone of Manaus. The material was valued at more than R$40 million.

According to police officer Mário Paulo, director of the Department for the Repression of Organized Crime, the seizure is the result of an investigation that began a few weeks ago, regarding the movement of a truck that came from São Paulo under the pretext of transporting a supposedly legal cargo. According to the police authority, the suspicion is that the drugs were going to return to the southeast region, but the investigations will continue.

In his testimony, the man said he would receive a significant amount of money for his criminal activity. The police chief highlighted that this year alone, the DRCO has already seized more than 10 tons of drugs, and adding operations carried out with other police forces, more than 13 and a half tons of narcotics have already been seized. These figures represent double what was seized by the Department in 2023.
