“The individual, the ability to mobilize this leadership and these moral feelings, is absolutely key to understanding the place of this individual in this articulation and in this project that we are seeing circulating around,” he said.

The historian emphasizes that Trump’s ability to transform moral references into political projects is critical to understanding current political processes. He argues that the role of the individual, especially leadership capable of mobilizing these moral feelings, is crucial to understanding contemporary political dynamics.
“Understanding that the structuring dimension is absolute dimension in this story, leads us to perspectives, such as Marxism, among others, which, in some sense, would produce a leadership that was fundamental to this collective process and lead to established changes,” he said.
Gherman points out that Trump is not the first leader to demonstrate this ability. He mentions that several historical figures were able to interpret and channel collective feelings, citing controversial examples such as Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.
