US President Donald Trump has fired the US Statistics Office (BLS) commissioner on Friday, following a report that has shown a significant slowdown in recruitment in recent months. Posting on social media, Trump fired fierce criticism and unfounded charges against Erica Makedarfer, who had been appointed by Joe Biden and ratified by the Senate in 2024. “I ordered my team to remove this policy,” Makedarfer that he had “cooked” the statistics.
