Trump criticizes coverage of Elon Musk interview

Former US President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump complained on Tuesday (13) about the news coverage regarding the conversation he and Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk had on the platform on Monday night (12).

The virtual event began after a delay of more than 40 minutes due to technical difficulties.

“I spent 2 1/2 hours last night talking to Elon, a fantastic guy, getting record views/hits, and all the fake news media wants to report is that the servers crashed (due to the tremendous volume!), and the event started a little later. What they should be reporting is the incredible number of people who were listening. I absolutely hate the fake news media. Very bad for our Country!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Trump claims the servers crashed “because of the sheer volume,” but Musk said an attack overwhelmed the company’s servers. It’s unclear what the issue was or why.

“DDoS,” or distributed denial-of-service attack, is a common attack method in which hackers flood a website with fake traffic to overload systems and try to shut it down.

On Tuesday (13), however, Musk also blamed the X team for an error in a post on the platform that prevented people from joining the broadcast. Musk did not specify what types of errors he believes X employees made or how a DDoS attack would have targeted a specific stream and not taken down the rest of the X platform, which remained operational during the problems with Trump’s broadcast.

Who is Thomas Matthew Crooks, the shooter in the attack on Trump?
