United States President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he has doubts that Hamas will meet the deadline to release hostages until this Saturday (15).
The armed group accused Israel of violating ceasefire points and said it would suspend the release of the detainees. In response, Trump suggested leaving “hell to settle” in Gaza.
“And you know, I have a deadline on Saturday, and I don’t think they will meet the deadline,” said the president at the White House Oval Hall, while meeting with Jordan King Abdullah – a country that has been a fundamental part of of the negotiations that led to the current ceasefire.
“I think they, they, [Hamas] They want to play the tough, but we’ll see how tough they are, ”Trump added.
He said earlier that he doubts that many of the hostages are still alive.
Trump repeats plan to move Palestinians
On Tuesday, the American president reinforced the plan to take the Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip, something that many Palestinians and Arab nations in the region categorically rejected.
He pointed out that he would like to see Gaza becomes a profitable property for resorts and office buildings.
Pressured by reporters in the Oval Hall over what would allow the United States to take control of the sovereign territory of Gaza, Trump replied, “under US authority.”
