President Donald Trump, the oldest person to take office in the United States, is experiencing the first physical examination of his second term on Friday (11), without general anesthesia, the White House said.
Trump, who turns 79 in June, is known for his love for fast food, but often talks about his solid physical and mental health.
“I never felt better, but even so, these things need to be done!” Trump wrote in a publication on the Truth Social platform on Monday (7), announcing the planned exam.
The press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, said the White House will provide an update on the examination performed by the president’s doctor as soon as possible.
“He is undergoing several exams, including image exams. Again, it’s an annual physical examination, so there is a lot involved,” she said, adding that Trump would not receive general anesthesia.
Physical examination can offer the first clear view of Trump’s condition since his ear was scraped by a bullet during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July last year.
At the time, the campaign released a report by Ronny Jackson, former Trump White House doctor and Republican congressman for Texas, stating that the injuries were superficial.
The White House usually determines which data will be released from a president’s health exam. Trump is not required to share any information and there is no model for the presidential exam. The president released only limited information about his health during his presidential campaigns.
During the 2024 election, Trump tried to establish strong contrasts with his predecessor, Joe Biden, now 82, claiming to be younger and in better shape.
A White House doctor in 2018, when Trump was fulfilled his first term, said the president had excellent overall health, but needed to lose weight and start a daily exercise routine.
Trump included a cognitive examination, the cognitive assessment of Montreal during his first term, and his doctor said he got 30 points in 30.
The mental capacity and age of Biden and Trump were focused during last year’s election campaign, especially after the Democratic’s disastrous performance in a June debate and the increasingly confused speeches of the Republican in rallies.
