Less than a 24 -hour period after an international federal court annulled their imposition in the first instance, the customs duties announced by US President Donald Trump remained temporarily in force, as another federal Court of Appeal decided to keep them. Yesterday Wednesday, the Federal Court for International Trade (ITC) ruled that Mr Trump has overcome his powers by imposing general customs duties, as decisions on such measures is left to Congress. This decision prevented the implementation of customs duties imposed on Canada, Mexico and China, as well as the “reciprocal” duties imposed in early April on imported products from most countries around the world.
