Trump government calls for clarity to the Supreme Court about the deportation of Venezuelans

Donald Trump’s Government Justice Department responded for the first time the US Supreme Court decision that temporarily barred the deportation of Venezuelan immigrants based on a 1798 war law.

In reaction, the Trump government has asked the court clearly for the requirements to deport at least some of the immigrants based on other migratory laws that are not the subject of controversy.

The Supreme Court order issued on Saturday (19) made no distinction between deportations under the law of foreign enemies and other laws that require due process, ie hearings, before the removal of people from the country.

This was the first official demonstration of the Trump administration after the announcement of the Supreme Court that the administration must interrupt deportations based on the war law until a second decision of the court on the subject.

Judicial setback against Trump

Judges of the highest instance of the US Judiciary have reached a request from the American Union for Civil Liberties (ACLU) to suspend the deportation of a group of Venezuelans to receive the notification that they could be deported based on the law of foreign enemies.

Immigrant lawyers said the deportations seemed imminent and suggested that the Trump government abuse the legislation, which was only used three times in history during wars.

Lower court courts had already denied the request of the activists, but the Supreme Court suspended the deportations.
