Trump government removes suspension from sending heavy bombs to Israel

The US government removed the suspension of heavy bombs to Israel, a government source said on Saturday, reversing a Biden era policy.

The measure, which was previously reported by Axios, was widely expected and had been signaled to the Israeli authorities by Trump government members, people said familiar with the matter.

Former President Joe Biden restricted the delivery of 900 kg bombs for concern that they could be used indiscriminately by the Israeli military in densely populated areas of the Gaza Strip.

Biden first revealed his decision to limit armament deliveries in an interview with CNN.

“Civilians were killed in Gaza as a consequence of these bombs and other ways in which they go after population centers,” said Democrat to Erin Burnett, from CNN, last year.
