The last of three appeals filed by former President Donald Trump, challenging his defeat in the November presidential election was rejected today Monday (8/3) by the US Supreme Court.
According to the APE-MPE, without any comment, the nine judges rejected Trump’s appeal, which concerned the counting of thousands of ballots filed by mail in the State of Wisconsin. The Republican tycoon was defeated in Wisconsin by Joe Biden by an over 20,000 votes.
This was the last of three appeals by Trump to the end of his presidency that the Supreme Court refused to consider. The other two – one again in Wisconsin and the other in Pennsylvania – rejected on 22 February.
In all three cases, lower courts ruled in Trump’s favor. It thus became clear that the Supreme Court, three members of which have been appointed by the former president, had no intention of intervening in these cases and in all the others submitted by its allies, as it had not done so before 6 January, when Congress ratified Biden’s victory.
Today, tthe Supreme Court also refused to consider another election-related case and was filed by attorney Lynn Wood, an ally of Trump. In his appeal, he asked the judges to block the holding of repeat elections for the Senate in Georgia. The Court never dealt with the request and the Democrats won both seats in that State.
