Trump Keeps Questioning The Authenticity Of Mailed-In Ballots As Twitter Blocked His Tweet

Twitter being his most reliable ally on speaking his mind to the public, Trump tweeted saying that the counting of mailed-in ballots after the count is done “will allow rampant and unchecked cheating”.

His claims of unjust results have been there ever since supreme court denied refusing the lower court’s decision to block the mailed-in ballots after the votes have been counted. He has been chanting the same mantra saying that it will allow cheating and biased results against him.

In his tweet, he further claimed that such results might incite violence and unrest, saying “It will also induce violence in the streets”. His remarks were concerning. Therefore, Twitter decided to remove his tweet ahead of the election day.

Trump has been vocal since forever against mailed in ballots as they seem to be going against him. In his tweet, he also urged “something must be done”, a remark which was particularly problematic for the social media platform Twitter which claimed that it is misleading and might cause unrest in the voters.

Supreme court has recently refused to block the lower court’s decision to extend the deadline for the state of Pennsylvania for receiving mailed in ballots. This extension was given by a few days, and the only requirement was for the mails to be marked within the deadline for the election, 3rd November 2020, 3 pm.

As they might be late in reaching the ballots via mail, this leniency was given by the courts to Pennsylvania voters.

Republicans are clear in their stance to be against this extension, and Donald Trump, in particular, has been evident saying that any other means of voting may cause discrepancies. He has been evident in saying that such ways of voting may let there be a chance for cheating, thus questioning the transparency of the US voting system.

Most of his tweets regarding the subject have been seen as a concern, but Twitter has blocked the one right before the results as it might mislead the voters.

The social media forums like Facebook and Twitter have strengthened their preelection policies as the final day arrives. They have been trying not to let any misinformation slip through and let the voters get confused or agitated.

Twitter has also claimed that no one will be allowed to claim their victory before a clear and realistic bar can be seen for either candidate. Twitter has also become stricter in letting tweets that incite feelings of unrest among the voters ahead of election day.

On the other hand, Facebook has also made sure that no ads or posts claiming victory ahead of the election results can be posted on the forum. Facebook has alerted the reporters saying that they have placed various unspecified “break-glass” options ready for any emergency.

Previously, these forums have been accusing of letting conspiracies slip through their ranks and let the general public and voters be misguided. For the 2016 elections, a few have claimed that foreign agencies have been at work with the election’s results. However, no concrete evidence to such a claim was ever unearthed.

This time around, they have been vigilant in making sure that the results are announced all at once and that no misinformation be let to reach the public before the final verdict is announced.

There is also a coalition of pro-democracy and several social media groups working together under the umbrella name of “the Election Integrity Partnership” which is working to deluge any misinformation or false claims before the final verdict of elections is announced.

They called Trump’s tweet to be spreading false narratives while questioning the authenticity of the state’s authority.

Twitter took immediate action and blocked the tweet after 40 minutes. However, EIP says that the damage has been done and the action was a little late than expected. Trump’s tweet had already received 126,000 liked and was retweeted 55,000 times before twitter had a chance to block it finally.

They have also suggested the forums to speed up their moderation as the chaos is expected to increase manifolds before the election results are announced
