Trump opponents make protests in the US and other countries this Saturday

About 1,200 demonstrations are planned in the United States on Saturday (5), in which organizers expect to be the largest protest day against President Donald Trump and their billionaire Elon Musk since the government has launched their rapid effort to impose a conservative character on the government.

The protests entitled “Hands Off!” (“Take their hands” will give Trump’s opponents an opportunity to demonstrate their mass discontent in response to the wide reformulation of US foreign and internal policy through executive decrees.

“This is a huge manifestation that is sending a very clear message to Musk, Trump, to the Republicans of Congress and all the allies of the trumps that march that we do not want them to put their hands on our democracy, in our communities, in our schools, in our friends and neighbors,” said Ezra Levin, co -founder of the Indivisible, one of the groups that organize this Saturday.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Trump or Musk.

About 150 activist groups signed up to participate, according to the event’s website.

Events are planned in all 50 states, besides Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Mexico and Portugal. One of the biggest protests is expected at Parque National Mall in Washington.

Trump returned to office on January 20 with a series of decrees and other measures that critics say they are aligned with an agenda outlined by the “Project 2025”, a deeply conservative political initiative to reshape the government and consolidate the presidential authority.

His supporters applauded Trump’s audacity as necessary to interrupt root liberal interests.

White House Assistant Secretary Liz Huston contested the protesters that Trump intended to cut social security and medicaid.

“President Trump’s position is clear: he will always protect Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to qualified beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the position of Democrats is to give social security benefits, Medicaid and Medicare to illegal foreigners, which will lead to bankruptcy and crush the elderly,” Huston said in an email.

Much of Trump’s agenda was restricted by lawsuits claiming that he has extrapolated his authority with attempts to dismiss civil servants, deport immigrants, and reverse transgender rights.

Pro-Palestinian groups that oppose the new Military Action of Israel, the US ally, in Gaza and the Trump government’s repression of university protests will also participate in Washington and plan a march, protest groups said in a statement.

At the beginning of Trump’s first term in 2017, hundreds of thousands of people joined the Women’s March in Washington to demonstrate opposition.

This year’s protests were smaller, but activist leaders plan to join a large -scale event, Levin said.

Indivisible, formed after Trump’s first election in 2016, worked with other liberal groups, including Moveon and Working Families Party, to unite progressive organizations across the country.

Among the organizations that committed to participate are the Service Employees International Union, a union representing about 2 million workers; Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBTQia+ defense group in the United States; and the environmental group Greenpeace.
