The Supreme Court ruling granting former President Donald Trump limited immunity in the Jan. 6 case allows Trump’s legal team to further litigate and potentially push any review of the lawsuit until after the November election, the chief legal correspondent noted. from the CNN Paula Reid.
“The fact that the Supreme Court has opened the door to new proceedings for new litigation makes this unlikely to happen before November. And the reason this is significant is because if Trump is re-elected, he could make this case and the confidential documents case disappear,” Reid said.
Former President Donald Trump himself praised the Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity, calling it a major victory for the Constitution and democracy.
Trump posted on Truth Social, “HUGE WIN FOR OUR CONSTITUTION AND DEMOCRACY. PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!”
