Trump removes safety authorizations for Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton

United States President Donald Trump withdrew on Friday (21) security permits of former vice-president Kamala Harris, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and others.

The Republican President, who also revoked former President Joe Biden’s security permit, defeated Hillary in the 2016 presidential election and Kamala in last year’s election.

“I determined that it is no longer in national interest that the following individuals access confidential information,” Trump said in a memorandum on Friday that also included former secretary of state Antony Blinken.

Although revocation may have no immediate impacts, it is another sign of the growing political division in Washington.

The memorandum was issued hours after Trump arrived at his golf property in Bedminster, New Jersey, for the weekend.

The American president also targeted former republican re-presenter Liz Cheney, a fierce criticism of Trump, former Biden White Conduct counselor Jaken, Jake Sullivan, and Fiona Hill, a Russian expert who served on her national security board during her first term.

Mark Zaid, a national security lawyer in Washington who represents complainants, and Adam Kinzinger, a former Republican legislator who is a fierce critic of Trump, were among many others who had their safety authorizations revoked.

He had already revoked the security authorization for Biden, denying the former president of traditional access to US intelligence.

Former US presidents traditionally receive intelligence briefings so that they can advise acting presidents on national security and foreign policy.

In 2021, Biden revoked the security permit for Trump, who was then a former president.
