Trump responds to provocations to release medical records and attacks Kamala

Donald Trump, former president of the United States and Republican candidate, responded to Vice President Kamala Harris’ calls for him to release his medical reports, after the Democrat released a summary of her medical history over the weekend.

The businessman was ironic and stated that the vice president “is dying to see my cholesterol”.

“I have published more medical exams than any other president in history,” Trump said on Truth Social, taking the opportunity to attack Kamala for excerpts from her medical history.

The Republican stated that the seasonal allergies and hives highlighted in the report were “profoundly serious conditions that clearly affect your ‘functioning””.

However, these medical conditions highlighted by the Republican, including allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis, are not considered serious and would not affect someone’s cognition.

Urticaria, a skin disease, “affects 20% of people at some point in their lives,” according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology.

Kamala releases report and attacks Trump

Kamala Harris criticized Donald Trump for not releasing her medical records during a rally in Greenville, North Carolina, on Sunday (13).

“He is not being transparent with voters. He is not being transparent. So get this: he refuses to release his medical records. I did it. Every other presidential candidate in the modern era has done this,” he claimed.

“He is not willing to give interviews at the [programa] 60 Minutes, as every other major party candidate has done for more than half a century. He is not willing to meet for a second debate,” he added.

The White House released a letter on Saturday (12) summarizing the vice president’s medical history, signed by US Army doctor Dr. Joshua R. Simmons, who said she is in “excellent health.”

Trump campaign reacts

Donald Trump’s campaign released a letter from his personal doctor in November 2023, which described him as being in “excellent” health.

However, the document did not include information about the types of tests Trump took or what the results were.

Notably, it did not include basic information that the Republican’s doctors have shared in the past, such as his height and weight, cholesterol level or blood pressure.

Details about Kamala’s health

The vice president of the United States has seasonal allergies and hives and is nearsighted, Simmons’ letter states. His immunizations and preventive exams are all up to date, and his most recent physical exam in April and his routine blood tests showed no cause for alarm, according to the doctor.

The vice president wears contact lenses, takes a vitamin D3 supplement and sometimes uses over-the-counter and prescription allergy medications, including Allegra, nasal spray and eye drops.

Simmons described the Democrat’s diet as “very healthy” and noted that she does not use tobacco products and drinks alcohol “only occasionally and in moderation.”

Dr Sanjay Gupta, chief medical correspondent for CNN, assessed that the letter is “more notable in some aspects” for what it does not show.

“No history of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, lung disease, cancer,” Gupta noted, summing it up as “basically saying that [Kamala] is fit for service.”
