United States President Donald Trump said on Monday that he was focusing on having a ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible and finally reaching permanent peace.
Trump made the comments at a news conference with French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House.
The Republican also said the US had “some great conversations” with Russia since he took office on January 20 towards this goal.
Trump and Macron held the joint press conference after a bilateral meeting in the Oval Hall.
The two presidents also participated in a connection with the G7 summit leaders.
Macron’s visit to the White House takes place on the third anniversary of Ukraine’s large -scale invasion of Russia.
European leaders seek to recover a central role after they were cut from negotiations between the US and Russia over the end of the war.
