United States President Donald Trump again praised what he called his “great relationship” with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during a meeting at the Oval Hall on Thursday (13). Trump also suggested being open to restoring negotiations with North Korean.
Asked if he plans to restore the cordial relationship he enjoyed during his first term with North Korean leader, Trump told reporters:
“Well, I would. I had a great relationship with Kim Jong and North Korea. ”
“We went to Singapore, where we met, we went to Vietnam, met better, we got along very well. We had a very good relationship and we still have, ”he added.
The president acknowledged that his initial relationship with Kim “began very difficult”, in a nod to his own 2017 promise of “fire and fury” if North Korea continued to issue military threats against US territory.
“Rhetoric was extremely hard. It was a little dangerous, ”admitted Trump.
But according to the Republican, Kim Jong Un, told him that his relationship with his predecessor, former President Barack Obama, was even colder, “and he would not meet Obama, would not answer his calls.”
“So, I have a great relationship with Kim Jong Un, and we’ll see what happens,” Trump added.
