US President Donald Trump said on Thursday (23) that his administration will appeal a federal judge’s decision to temporarily block an executive order restricting birthright citizenship.
Earlier in the day, a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from implementing the executive order restricting automatic citizenship rights for people born in the United States, calling it “blatantly unconstitutional.”
“I have been in court for more than four decades. I cannot recall another case where the issue presented was so clear,” said Judge John Coughenour.
The fight against immigration is one of the main points on the Republican’s agenda for his second term as president. He promised to carry out the largest mass deportation in US history.
Additionally, on Wednesday (22), he signed an executive order to suspend the entry of illegal immigrants through the US southern border with Mexico.
