President Donald Trump suggested on Friday night that he would bring back a father of Maryland that his administration deported by mistake to El Salvador if the Supreme Court ordered to do so.
“If the Supreme Court said to bring someone back, I would do that. I respect the Supreme Court,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One on his way to Florida.
On Thursday (11), the Supreme Court determined that the Trump administration should “facilitate” the return of Kilmar Armando Abargo Garcia de El Salvador.
The president’s comments seem to directly contradict what a Justice Department lawyer said earlier in Maryland.
Prosecutor Drew Esign argued that Trump’s Justice Department “is still analyzing the decision of the Supreme Court” and admitted that he had no information about the exact location of the father of three children of Maryland.
