Donald Trump refuted the statement by Chris Columbus, director of “Home Alone 2”, about his appearance in the film being “forced”. According to the former president of the United States, the film team not only wanted him to participate, but “begged” for it to happen.
Donald Trump spoke about the subject on the social network Truth Social, founded by the politician himself in 2022. In text, he pointed out that, in fact, the director and his team were “persistent” in having his participation in “Home Alone 2”.
“30 years ago (how time flies!), director Chris Columbus and others begged me to do a cameo. They rented the Plaza Hotel in New York, which I owned at the time. I was really busy and didn't want to do it. They were very friendly, but above all persistent. I agreed and the rest is history! That little cameo took off like a rocket, and the film was a huge success, and still is, especially at Christmas time,” the politician wrote.

Trump also highlighted that his appearance, even if small, in the film was “great” and boosted its success.
“People call me whenever [o filme] goes on air. Now, however, 30 years later, Columbus has released a statement that I forced myself into the film. Nothing could be further from the truth. This participation helped make the film a success, but if they felt intimidated or didn't want me, why did they put me and keep me there for over 30 years? Because I was, and still am, great for the movie, that's why!” concluded Trump.

Director of “Home Alone” said Donald Trump forced participation
Chris Columbus, said that Donald Trump forced his appearance in the second film, released in 1992, in an interview with Business Insider.
In “Home Alone 2”, Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) is forgotten at home by his family again, but manages to stay at the famous Plaza Hotel, in New York, where he meets the thieves from the first film.
At the time, before becoming one of the presidents of the United States, Trump owned the Plaza Hotel, where the recordings would take place.
“We wanted to film in the lobby. We couldn’t rebuild the Plaza into a studio,” Columbus said.
“We pay a fee [para filmar no local], but he also said, 'The only way you can use the Plaza is if I'm in the movie.' So we agreed to put him in the film,” the director added.
“So I said to my editor, 'Leave him in the film. It's a moment for the public'. But he forced his appearance”, he concluded.
