Former president and Republican candidate for President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Thursday (31) that he held a campaign rally in New Mexico because it is “good for relations with the Hispanic and Latino community”, while asking Hispanic Americans in the state to vote for him.
“Look, don’t make me waste half a whole day here. Look, I came here. We could be nice to each other or we could be direct. Let’s talk directly about the matter,” Trump declared during a rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
“First of all, Hispanics love Trump. They love it. In truth. I like them. They are smart. They are much smarter than the person on the Democratic side running for President. You could even say smarter than Biden too,” Trump continued. “They are great entrepreneurs, in fact, great owners of small businesses and also great owners of large companies. They are great. They work hard.”
Trump added that he treated the community “much better than the Democrats.”
“So, I’m here for a simple reason. I really like you and this is good for my relations with the Hispanic and Latino community”, highlighted Trump.
At the beginning of the speech, Trump falsely suggested that he received a majority vote in the state in 2016 and 2020. President Joe Biden beat Trump in New Mexico in 2020 by more than 10 points and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton won in 2016 by more than eight points.
