Trump signs decree to increase production of essential minerals in the USA

United States President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he signed a decree to increase national production of essential minerals and compensate for sector control through China.

The White House did not immediately provide details about the decree. Reuters previously reported that Trump would seek to build metal refining facilities on Pentagon military bases and probably use national security powers to increase production.

Former Newmont Executive David Copley was appointed to supervise the mining portfolio of the US National Energy Dominance Council, two sources familiar with the appointment told Reuters.

In the new role, Coplay will be the highest -level person in the federal government to shape the mining policy, said one of the sources.

Trump also said on Thursday that the United States will sign a mineral agreement and natural resources with Ukraine soon.
