President Donald Trump signed on Tuesday (8) a series of decrees aimed at strengthening the coal industry after comments made at the White House.
White House Personnel Secretary Will Scharf said one of the decrees guides all departments and agencies to “end all discriminatory policies against the coal industry”, including the revocation of a measure that previously prevented fossil fuel projects in federal lands.
The decree will also “accelerate all permissions and financing for new coal projects,” he told Trump.
Another decree aims to “protect coal plants currently in operation,” he said, and another will promote the safety and reliability of the power grid.
In addition, Donald Trump, in another decree, will also instruct the Justice Department to investigate state policies that “discriminate with coal”, according to Scharf.
