United States President Donald Trump speaks on Thursday (15) in the largest US military facility in the Middle East, the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
The base houses more than 10,000 soldiers and played a key role in American foreign policy in the last two decades.
It is the Republican’s first visit to the site, which served as a crucial launch platform for air attacks and intelligence missions in Afghanistan and was the main base of the United States Central Command (Centcom in English) after Iraq’s invasion in 2003.
It is the largest audience that the president will face on his trip through the Middle East this week. A tour of the base facilities was foreseen before the rally -shaped speech for the troops.
Prior to Trump’s arrival, American comedian and podcloth Theo von took the stage under applause.
Von was among the right -wing podcasters whose republican support in the presidential campaign was credited with helping to gain the support of many young people.
Lee Greenwood, the country star whose music whose music “God Bless the USA” has become the hymn of Trump’s campaign rallies in the last decade, is also present at the base, located on the outskirts of Doha.
