Trump team likely to use Supreme Court ruling to challenge porn star case

Donald Trump’s legal team will likely use Monday’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity when challenging the ruling on bribery of an adult film actress, a source familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. CNN.

Trump’s team believes the ruling could be used to challenge parts of the testimony of Hope Hicks, a top former aide to the Republican, as well as some of the tweets entered as evidence, the source said.

A CNN previously reported that the former president’s team sees Monday’s ruling as “a huge victory” because, in addition to using it to try to get charges dropped, they can also use the ruling to get evidence related to official acts dropped in other cases, not just federal ones.

This could harm prosecutors’ ability to prove the remaining charges.

The case of falsifying business records to pay an adult film star and the one investigating 2020 election subversion, which is at the center of the Supreme Court’s immunity decision, are two of four criminal cases Trump faces as he runs again for president.
