Trump threatens to annihilate “completely” hethis do Yemen

United States President Donald Trump wrote in a publication on his social networks on Wednesday (19), that the yamen hethis will be “completely annihilated,” and said Iran should stop “immediately” to send supplies to the group.

“Reports are coming that, although Iran has diminished its intensity in military equipment and general support to the Houthis, they are still sending large levels of supplies. Iran should stop sending these supplies immediately. Let the Houthis fight for themselves,” wrote the president.

“Anyway, they lose, but in this way they lose quickly. Tremendous damage has been inflicted on the barbaric Houthis, and note how it will progressively get worse – it’s not even a fair fight, and it will never be. They will be completely annihilated!” He added.

On Saturday (15), Trump ordered a “decisive” military action against the Houthi rebels in Yemen, opening a new offensive against the Iran -supported group that targets navigation routes in the Red Sea.

The action left dozens of dead and injured, targeting in the capital Sanaa and Sada.

Understand the conflict with the hethis

Washington has been working to degrade Hourthi capabilities for months, while the entity worked to stop international navigation routes after the terrorist attacks of October 7, 2023 in Israel.

The group made more than 100 ships and vessels, including drones, missiles and small ships.

During this period, the group sank two ships, seized another and killed at least four sailors in an offensive that interrupted global maritime transport, forcing companies to redirect their routes for longer and more expensive travel throughout Africa.

The Biden government tried to respond by conducting attacks on the hethis positions in Yemen, but the actions did not prevent further attacks.

Earlier this year, Trump signed an order designating Houthis as a “foreign terrorist organization.”
