Vladimir Putin will face “very serious consequences” if he does not agree with a truce in Ukraine at a meeting with Donald Trump in Alaska, the US president said on Wednesday. Trump also said he would seek a trilateral meeting with Volodimir Zelenski if the meeting in Alaska develops smoothly. After a conversation with Zelenski and European leaders, such as Kir Starmer of Britain, Trump hinted to organize a second meeting if the first with Putin is doing well – this time with the Ukrainian president. “If the first goes well, we will have a second immediately,” he told reporters in Washington. “I want to do it almost immediately, a quick second meeting between President Putin, President Zelenski and me if they want to be there.” Trump did not give a timetable for the second meeting.
