A Federal Court of Appeal in the United States ruled that most of the duties imposed by Donald Trump were illegal. These are the so -called “reciprocal” duties, which were implemented in almost every country with which the US had trade relations. The Court ruled that they were imposed in breach of the International Emergency Emergency Emergency Emergency Act (IEEPA). The ruling confirmed a previous judgment by the Court of Justice of International Trade, rejecting Trump’s basic legal argument. The duties are not immediately withdrawn, but will remain in force until October 14, to enable appeal to the Supreme Court.
