Trump’s meeting with Secret Service director was ‘hands-on’ and ‘cordial,’ sources say

Former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s meeting with acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe on Monday (16) was brief and practical, they told CNN two sources.

Rowe briefed the former president on current security protocols and security enhancements that are available to his campaign.

“It was a relaxed meeting. The meeting was about reviewing security details, going over any improvements that may be available and that will be made. But it was very short. It was very direct, very practical and very cordial,” one of the sources shared.

THE CNN had already reported that Trump is expected to maintain his campaign schedule this week following the apparent second assassination attempt against him in West Palm Beach on Sunday (15).

Councilors scored CNN that security improvements are being made in response to the incident, and such measures will likely be noticeable during this week’s political events.

However, sources did not go into detail about what exactly these improvements will be, citing that the biggest concerns are with the former president’s security.

Trump and his advisers continue to praise the former president’s personal Secret Service team, and he has even privately called the people he worked with over the years “heroes.”

“He applauds and admires the team and knows they have always done right by him. He will say, and has said, that their actions in Butler (Pennsylvania) and on Sunday reflect his deep trust and admiration for the Service,” a second Trump adviser said.

The advisers, however, said their broader concerns about the Secret Service are with the agency as a whole, and whether it has enough resources to adequately protect Trump.

“On a systemic level, there are obviously some points that need to be changed and adjusted. That’s what we’ve always said. It’s not the people, it’s the system in place,” which may not be well equipped to deal with the current reality, one of the advisers pointed out.
