Tsakloglou: Delay in submitting Detailed Periodic Statements does not mean loss of employees’ rights

“The applications for cash benefits submitted by the employees due to the untimely submission of the respective Detailed Periodic Statements by the Ministry of Labor during the pandemic period, remain in the competent Services until the completion of the submission of the declarations”.

This was pointed out today by the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mr. Panos Tsakloglou, answering a relevant topical question of the KINAL MP Mr. G. Moulkiotis regarding the insurance settlement of seasonal workers in tourism and food companies (which did not work in 2020 and 20 due to the pandemic), whose employment contracts were suspended following a unilateral declaration.

Mr. Tsakloglou stressed that “the delay in the submission of the Detailed Periodic Statements in no case entails the loss of the rights of the employees”.

According to the data of the Employees’ Contributions Directorate of e-EFKA, for the period from June 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020, Detailed Periodic Statements have been submitted by the Ministry of Labor, which, in the framework of the above procedure, settled about insurance 130,000 seasonal employees of all sectors of economic activity and their insurance accounts were updated. The process has been completed for all months of 2020 and at this stage the “Individual Insurance Accounts” are updated electronically in the information system of e-EFKA.

However, as Mr. Tsakloglou stated, “the audits have revealed 14,000 unidentified statements of unilateral suspensions. In fact, in many of them not even the AMKA of the insured is mentioned. the details of these unidentified policyholders “.

Regarding the year 2021, Mr. Tsakloglou pointed out that “the procedures have already been launched by the General Secretariat of Labor, in order for the contractor of PS ERGANI to complete as soon as possible the production of the respective files for sending the Detailed Periodic Statements to e-EFKA “.

Three interventions to support seasonal workers

The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs then referred to the interventions of the government for the financial support of the seasonally employed, noting the following initiatives:

Αριθμός The number of insurance days required for the unemployment benefit of seasonal workers has been reduced from 100 to 50 for the year 2020

Θηκε The reduction of insurance days from 100 to 50 for the insured of the tourism – food sector was extended to the year 2021

. Finally, an amendment passed last week extends the favorable regulation which provides for the reduction of the minimum insurance days to 50 out of 100 for the granting of regular unemployment benefits to other sectors of the seasonally employed. “These are workers, especially in the canning industry, in sorting halls and in other professions related to agriculture and the processing of agricultural products, who were in danger of not completing the required number of insurance days”, concluded Mr. Tsakloglou.
