Tsavousoglou: ‘Athens and Nicosia tried to send ships to our continental shelf 9 times’

A new attack against Greece was launched by the head of Turkish diplomacy, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who claimed that Ankara wants in the Aegean “a stable peace and solving the problems in peaceful ways, but we see that there is no political will in Greece”.

According to ERT, at the beginning of the Diplomacy Conference, Mr. Tsavousoglou claimed that “Greeks and Greek Cypriots tried to send ships to our continental shelf nine times, but we prevented them, with the measures we took both on the front and at the table, and tomorrow the ship Abdul Hamid Khan will sail for its first operations in the Mediterranean”.

At the same time, he noted that Ankara has informed the UN that islands in the Aegean that are very close to the coast of Turkey are constantly being armed. “That’s why we will continue to update on the matter,” he said.

Referring to the Cyprus issue, he reiterated that if the process goes into a phase of negotiations, these should be between two states (referring to the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sides), while he argued that if there is a “compromise between the two states, then half of the problems of Eastern Mediterranean”.
