Tsavousoglu believes that Putin and Zelensky will meet soon

A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky is not far off, it all depends on the consent and position of the former, said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu, according to the Russian news agency Novosti R.

“I do not think this meeting is far off. It all depends on Putin’s consent and position. Initially, the Russian president is not against the meeting,” Tsavousoglu told NTV.

It is recalled that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov, in statements about a possible meeting between Putin and Zelensky, said that nothing has changed for Moscow, Russia does not rule out such a possibility, but only after an agreement is reached during the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

Tsavousoglu also said he was planning telephone conversations with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts, Sergei Lavrov and Dmitry Kuleba, respectively, in the coming days. “Yes, that is what I intend to do. We are in contact all the time,” the Turkish Foreign Minister said in response to a question.

The Ankara-Yerevan meeting is necessary

Tsavousoglu also said that it was necessary for meetings between the special envoys of Ankara and Yerevan to Turkey or Armenia to normalize relations between the two countries.

It is noted that the first meeting of the special envoys for the normalization of relations took place in Moscow.

“If we are talking about normalizing relations, why not hold meetings in Turkey or Armenia? We have said that we are ready for that,” Tsavousoglu said, adding that the next, third meeting of the special envoys would be held in Vienna.
