The president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) Luís Roberto Barroso participated in a press conference this Monday (13) to publicize the new models of electronic voting machines that will be used in the 2022 elections.
The event was held in Manaus, where the new modules are made. Each production phase is monitored by the Electoral Technology Coordination (Cotel) team of the TSE’s Information Technology Secretariat.
According to the Court, 577,000 ballot boxes will be used next year. The new models will total 225,000 units, which must be delivered by May 2022. The useful life of an urn is 10 to 12 years.

Among the novelties in these items is the clerk’s terminal, with a fully graphical and touch-sensitive screen, without a physical keyboard. In this way, while one person votes, another can be identified by the polling station, increasing the speed with which the vote is taken and reducing queues.
At the press conference, Barroso reaffirmed that electronic voting is safe.
“It is always good to remember that electronic voting machines are not networked. The results of the elections are impossible to change”, said the president of the TSE.
