During his tour in Crete, the president of SYRIZA PS made a stop in the central square in Kalyves of Apokoronas Chania, where he talked to residents and volunteers and members of SYRIZA PS who are preparing for the election process next Sunday.
Mr. Tsipras characterized the process as unprecedented and as he said “it is based on the ability of our volunteers and our members to set up a perfect process, inviolable, throughout Greece with 1,000 sections from Evros to Gavdos”.
As he underlined with the electoral process of next Sunday, “we are implementing the decision of our Congress to strengthen our party. But above all, to strengthen the desire of the people for a significant change in their lives and to protect the society that is once again in very difficult “.
The President thanked everyone for their efforts for this “great celebration of true democracy”
“We have a dilemma: either we shop for the house or we pay for the electricity”
Earlier, the President of SYRIZA PS had toured the main streets of Chania, where residents and shopkeepers who had the opportunity to talk to him shared their anxiety about the accuracy and the need for political change.
“It may be the most difficult winter we have even experienced since the memoranda. At least tourism helps us. We try to balance a little with tourism. I would not like to imagine what happens in other areas that do not have tourism,” said a shopkeeper who tries to overcome the hoarseness of the current.
“How much electricity did we get? Do not discuss it at all. PPC 800 euros. Alone at home. My husband has died,” a resident of Chania told Alexis Tsipras, to add another shopkeeper that “the bills are unbearable and they are gnawing the income”.
“We have a dilemma: either we shop for the house or we pay for the electricity,” said another resident of Chania, adding that “we pay the golden boys with those salaries, and here we are looking at how to get it.”
“The problem is the huge poverty of the society. The wallet of the people of the popular strata, of the broad strata is empty”, noted a shopkeeper, explaining that the money is not enough even for the necessities. “I am afraid we will not relive what we experienced in the first years of the memoranda with the 250-300 thousand companies that closed,” he said.
“Crete is ready to stand by you to take over the government. This hope has remained in the world. And the sooner the better.” With this phrase a citizen welcomed him while another said to him: “Alexi strong, save us from predators”.
New SYRIZA spot:
“The government continues the big meal by pouring in public wealth”
After his tour of the Chania market on Monday morning, Mr. Tsipras made the following statement to the press:
“We have the worst government, the worst time for the country. In these difficult times, when we need social protection and support, we have a government that continues to eat big, pouring in public wealth, just as they did when they bankrupted the country.
They caught the thread again in 2015, when we pulled the country out of the water, leaving the debt settled, the public coffers strong, the country out of the memoranda, they came again to start the great feast of public wealth. With the blue golden boys, the privatizations of public utilities that are now paid for by the Greek citizen and consumer.
That this government is on the run is now commonly accepted. Even yesterday at the ND congress, the executives of the ruling party sent this message to Mr. Mitsotakis.
The point is, the sooner there is political change, the better for the country. Because every day that passes the poor become poorer and the rich richer and the public budget is burdened.
We therefore call on all citizens to send this message of political change. Mainly the progressive citizens, the democratic citizens, here from Crete, the cradle of the democratic struggles.
We call on them next Sunday to go to the polls of SYRIZA, to strengthen the SYRIZA Progressive Alliance, giving the message of political change. “To accelerate political developments and give perspective, breath, hope to the country with a progressive government.”
Earlier in the morning, Mr. Tsipras gave a radio interview to Zarpa Radio. In the afternoon he will visit the market in the old town of Rethymnon and will have a meeting with farmers and stockbreeders in Episkopi.
