Turkey reported 111,096 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, approaching last Friday’s record, while in the same period it recorded the most deaths in the last three months.
According to the official data of the Ministry of Health, in the previous 24 hours 241 patients lost their lives due to complications of Covid-19. This number is the highest since November 3.
At the end of December, Turkey confirmed about 20,000 new infections daily, but since then there has been an outbreak of the highly contagious Omicron variant. On Friday, a record 111,157 new infections were announced in a 24-hour period.
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has called on citizens to be vaccinated against Covid-19 and especially the elderly to respect the precautionary measures.
