Turkey: 41 people were killed by the explosion in a coal mine in Amasra

A total of 41 people were killed by the explosion that occurred on Friday afternoon in a coal mine in the city of Amasrain the northern province of Bartin Turkeyas the only missing person was found dead.

The announcement was made by Recep Tayyip Erdogan himself, who was present at the scene.

Soilou further said that a miner was discharged from the hospitalwhile another 10 are still hospitalized in Bartin and Istanbul.

The explosion, which is due to the ignition of a gasaccording to the authorities, occurred on Friday afternoon at 18:15 local time (and Greek time) at this important coal mine in the town of Amasra, in the province of Bartin, which has been in operation since the mid-19th century.

The authorities announced that Turkish prosecutors have launched an investigation into the causes of the accident.
