Great fire broke out in the area of Mersin in Turkeywith authorities proceeding to evacuations settlements and a total of 410 residents to leave their homes.
According to Anadolu Agency, prefect Ali Hamza Pehlivan told reporters that there were no reports of injuries or significant damage to houses, adding that “only one abandoned house in the forest was burned.”
Ground forces of the fire brigade, which were reinforced in the last hours, are fighting to bring the fiery front under control.

The strong winds blowing in the area contributed to the rapid spread of the fire, the Turkish Anadolu Agency underlines.
The fire is also raging near the nuclear power plant under construction in Akougiou. Firefighters are making efforts to prevent the flames from reaching the highway that connects Mersini with Antalya.
