President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today that Turkey is ready to lift all restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic, announcing that the use of a protective mask will no longer be mandatory indoors.
He noted, however, that the use of the mask will remain mandatory on public transport and in hospitals until the number of daily new cases drops below the 1,000 barrier.
In recent days, new infections have averaged below 3,000 compared to about 15,000 at the end of last month. Yesterday Monday, 2,604 new cases of coronavirus were registered and 15 deaths of patients with Covid-19 in a period of 24 hours.
More than 147.4 million doses of vaccine have been administered in Turkey since the launch of the Covid-19 mass vaccination program.
